The Kuwait Ministry of Defense provides off base housing with a vehicle for those who qualify. The base provides permanent support facilities, base exchanges (AAFES), three gyms, a pool, and three Military Dining Facilities.

Duties

Help
  • Serve as Deputy to the Commander Area Support Group- Kuwait (ASG-KU), a large, complex, multi-mission installation with tenant activities.
  • Provide administrative program direction to various civilian directors and special staff involved in a wide variety of functional program areas.
  • Formulate goals, policies, and objectives for the Area Support Group (ASG) - Kuwait.
  • Monitor the implementation of US Army Central and HQDA policies and guidance, and make recommendations to adapt guidance for local situations.
  • Implement an internal control system to produce a sound system of accountability.
  • Present recommendations to the installation commander for new organizational structures and management methods.

  • This position is supervisory as defined by the Office of Personnel Management's (OPM) General Schedule Supervisory Guide (GSSG). A one year probation to assess your ability to perform supervisory duties is required unless previously completed.
  • This position requires the incumbent to obtain a Top Secret clearance based on the duties and responsibilities identified.
  • This position is designated as an Emergency Essential (E-E) position in support of mobilization and wartime mission requirements and requires the incumbent to remain in the overseas area and perform duties until relieved by the proper authority.
  • In accordance with MOD-17, a pre-placement medical, dental and behavioral health fitness standards is required prior to appointment and subject to annual screening.
  • Incumbent must possess or be able to obtain and maintain a valid U.S. Government Motor Vehicle Operator's Identification Card within 30 days of appointment to the position.
  • Incumbent must be able to lift up 30 lbs.
  • Incumbent must possess or be able to obtain and maintain a valid state driver's license to operate vehicles.
  • Incumbent will be required to work overtime, as well as some holidays and weekends.
  • This is a drug testing designated position (TDP) subject to pre-employment drug test and random drug testing based on the requirement to possess a Top Secret security clearance
  • This position is identified as Mission Essential which may require the incumbent to work or remain at work during an emergency situation or when inclement weather has curtailed operations.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes:1) Managing civilian and military manpower and personnel programs; 2) Managing internal controls and support programs related to personnel management; AND 3) Advising/briefing senior officials on program management activities.
This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-14).

  • Direct deposit of pay is required.
  • U.S. citizens overseas under ordinarily resident status are not eligible for appointment under the Status of Forces Agreement.
  • Locality pay does not apply in the overseas area.
  • Employees who require medical or dental care in the overseas location will be responsible for obtaining and paying for such care. Access for civilian employees to military medical and dental treatment facilities is on a space-available and reimbursable basis only.
  • Pay retention may be offered to selected applicants for positions at overseas locations. Pay retention will not be offered as an incentive for employees moving between overseas positions.
